Day 9: Monday maybes

Today's been a day filled with maybes... this proverb above captures my mood of the day perfectly!

Do you ever get those days? Where you just feel a bit unsettled... You know that you've got these set tasks to meet and accomplish - it's all there in clear black and white in your mind or diary - but for some reason, you just can't fully kickstart the "let's begin" button!

So today was one of these exact days for me! From getting up this morning it was a case of... well maybe if I just hit my snooze button one more time... or maybe let me have that shower a bit later after I do this and this and this.. or hey maybe that thing I was meant to do today can actually wait for tomorrow! Sound familiar?

And so, I'm here to remind you all (and most definitely myself too!), that it's okay to have those maybe days! According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the word maybe means perhaps or uncertainty. I'm not surprised then that in this time of total chaos - where we literally can't anticipate what's happening next week let alone the next hour (I have to add a bit here about the weather in East London being SO apt for this post today with 4 massive thundershowers with full on downpours and then minutes later, clear blue skies and sunshine!), that this theme of maybe-ness seems prevalent all around me!

But maybe having a maybe day isn't such a terrible thing after all! Maybe we're meant to have these maybe days... to make us realise that maybe it works out.. or maybe it doesn't. But what if maybe everything was meant to be this way? What if maybe just questioning the maybe is the best thing that ever happened to us? This has to be my favourite quote on maybe:

It's been a guiding thought for me at the greatest of times - especially when I made the brave decision a few years ago to give up my existing life to travel and teach abroad in China. 5 years on and I've come to know that it was one of the best decisions and greatest adventures of my life which have been pivotal to who and where I am today.

So when you have one of those maybe days or moments, remember this post! And as this Russian proverb posted above says,

"Maybe rain or maybe snow. Maybe yes or maybe no."

What beauty there is in uncertainty, in the maybes in the world! The idea and concept of maybe in itself opens doors to endless possibilities and adventures... it's not the same as a definite yes or a definite no! It's the maybes of this world that make life that much more exciting.. so embrace the maybe! And who knows where you could be a few weeks, months or years from now?

Till tomorrow then!

Much love and for the love of wisdom always, Poonam
