Day 6: YOLO
Today's post is inspired by my special twin nieces, Pia and Payal, who reminded me about YOLO earlier today! For those of you not familiar with the acronym, it means You Only Live Once!
Sometimes we're so focused on our to do lists that we forget that some things are not as urgent as we think they are. The world of email, social media and technology has made us available 24/7. As much as this is empowering, it also makes everything appear urgent that we sometimes just forget to prioritise the important rather than the urgent things.
Yesterday, I had this endless list of things I had to get through. But then it hit me that my special P's were celebrating their 16th birthday party.. and I realised I was focusing on things that I thought were urgent, but not important. How often would my nieces be turning 16? And how often would I have the opportunity to share in their birthday festivities? So I put my long list of things on hold, and had a fabulous time hanging out with them which carried on into today where we sneaked in our standard end of term/date at Kristen's Kick-Ass ice-cream (you have to try their ice-cream if you haven't and live in Cape Town!) And so later today, I'll get back to that list, but with a deep knowing that I know have a bank of memories rather than regrets!
Yes, I do know and am very aware that we have our responsibilities and duties that are expected of us, but every now and then - we just need to remember to YOLO!!!
So this weekend, carve out some time to do something that makes you feel alive! Do something that reminds you that YOLO! Because YOLO :o)
Have a fabulous weekend YOLO-ing.. Take care and keep safe everyone!
Till tomorrow,
Much love and for the love of wisdom always.
