Day 10: Do your job

Do your job... 3 simple words and yet so much associated with these little letters that have such an impact our every day lives!

As you may have gathered by now, I have a thing for words and their meanings and symbolism and breaking things down to gain a clearer level of understanding - with today's post being no exception! The word job it is then....

How often have you been told to "just do your job"? The word job today is mostly associated with one's profession or paid work, but can also mean a task; a duty i.e. a mom, spouse, job duty etc; or even a crime or object! The word has even been attached to English idioms like "on the job" or "do the job" or "walk off the job" and even "good job!"

As you also may have come realise, I love writing, speaking and communicating in any way or form, and thus have to often be brought back to the point!

So today's post is all about doing "YOUR" job! Just do your job. I was chatting to someone last week that really drove this point home to me - she likened doing your job to washing that is drying on the line. The washing just has to dry - it doesn't think of how and when and what the weather is like and if there's rain or shine or whatever else.. it just does it's job! It hangs on the line allowing itself to dry. If it takes longer because there's too much moisture in the air or dries quicker because there's beautiful sun or wind.. then that's how it is. And it does what it does by being what is it's job to do! Just dry!

So often, we get so caught up in all the fluff around us, that we forget to just do the simple thing of doing your job. Sometimes that means putting your kids first, or getting that work task done or making some "me time" for yourself.. If we have the ability to just stop, pause and ask "what do I really need to do"? What is the job I need to get done right now or this day or week or month or year?

If we just focus on this - doing your job - one moment, one thing, one situation at a time, how much more would we accomplish?! As the quote at the top says, be like the flower..just do your job of blossoming as a a flower, and the bee will find its way to you 🐝🌻🌱🌹🌷 I love how nature is such an inspiration if we just take the time to notice!

So today... remember to just do your job! One moment, one thing, one situation at a time!

Till tomorrow,

For the love of wisdom always, Poonam
